The Amazon product description for this device did NOT indicate (as literature with the product did) (1) the polarity of the output plug -- it was wrong for my application, and (2) that this device should not be used with a radio -- it was wrong for my application. If I had found the package on display in a store I would have known this immediately, and have passed it up. The supplier sent me a note saying that the deficient product description they published was supplied by the manufacturer, so it wasn't their fault and have not offered to take back the merchandise and issue a refund (it's still sealed in its original package). Not much money, but it's the principle.
I use a digital recorder daily, with raising cost of everything, this product is an excellent money saver. It has a already paid for itself in the cost of batters, recordings esp at HQ drains batteries and dictation also drains even more.Save money if you use a Sony Digital Recorder, get this product.
This switching supply generates radiated and conducted interference. I can't recommend it for powering a radio, or operating it in the vacinity of a radio. When current draw is very low, it produces 120 Hz noise also. A better design one would expect from Sony.
Just the product I wanted. I spent a lot of money on batteries for my everyday recording. Everything is good about this product and it works as explained.
I have 6 Sony MX-20 digital recorders and I got tired of replacing AAA batteries so I purchased 3 of these AC adapters and they work just fine. The cord is extra long so it is very convenient to use.
